You Could Have Stained Glass Windows for Christmas

Have you ever been in a new church that doesn't yet have stained glass windows?  Perhaps your congregation does not yet have their own building but instead leases commercial space as many do while they develop their building fund.

New churches and temporary location churches like these seldom have the money to invest in stained glass windows to give their meeting place the warm, traditional enhancement of stain glass windows.

A good solution for this is stain glass window films.  Like real stain glass they permit light flow and add colour and warmth.  They also eliminate distrations from outside, particularly when you are meeting in a commercial space that may have surrounding businesses and industry.  Stain Glass window films give the look and feel of real stain glass, without the hefty price tag.  While they are a good interim measure for new buildings, they are so pretty that you may choose to leave them for the long term.

Stain glass window films can also be installed quickly compared to real stain glass, so if you are looking to add something special in time for your holiday services, now is the time to order stain glass window film!

These films are also an affordable and authentic alternative to real stained glass for Holiday Displays and Theatrical Sets.

In the Greater Toronto Area, contact Apex Window Films for Stain Glass Window Film installation or to order Do-It-Yourself Stain Glass Window Film packages that ship across North America.  Call Apex Window Films today at (416)335-8181 or visit the website www.ApexFilms.ca

Energy Conservation Tips for Home Winterization

In a recent article on www.TheDailyGreen.com they offered 19 Easy Home Winterization Projects to "make your home feel warmer without turning up the heat."

Tip number nine caught our interest as they suggested installing a window insulation kit (you know that plastic sheet you stick around your window and then discard in the spring) or they suggest to "Save even more by hiring a pro to install a high-tech 'low-e' film directly to the window glass."

In a related article, TheDailyGreen indicates that low-e coatings can reduce heat loss through old windows by 40%.

Apex Window Film agrees!  Low-E window films are ideal for the energy conserving home or business owner.  Not only do they reflect warm air back into the room during the winter (radiant heat) to keep heat from your furnace from escaping, They also reflect the suns heat back out in the summer reducing strain on air conditioners.  This makes low-e window films a great choice for year-round energy conservation and home comfort.

In the Greater Toronto Area, Apex Window Films installs the latest technology Low-E window film "Enerlogic" from respected manufacturer VISTA Window Films.  Enerlogic is not only effective it is attractive, virtually unnoticeable on glass.  For a Low-E window film estimate on your residential or commercial windows, contact Apex Window Films Today!

Half Down or Half Up? Part 1 of a Series on Privacy Film

When I was a kid, the CBC aired a children's series called The Friendly Giant. At the beginning of every show, the Giant would encourage the viewers to "Look up, look waaaaaay up, and I'll call Rusty". I loved that show (I'm not altogether certain, but I think Rusty was a little talking chicken or something - my fav was Jerome his giraffe friend who poked his head through the castle window for his visits)

"Looking up" is a common euphemism for hope and optimism. It is said that churches of the past would paint the ceilings (a la the Sistine Chapel) so that the common man would raise their head to view them, giving them hope and the sense of being uplifted in their faith. And it is true, there is beauty in optimism in looking up.

This can be particularly true in a cityscape. Looking down, what do we see? Concrete, asphalt, dirt, car exhaust, litter and other debris. But to look up, you might see birds, trees, fluffy clouds and sunshine, images of nature that are common to city and rural countryside.

So where is the window film guy going with this? Well, often times when we want privacy or to block an unsightly view from our homes or offices we use blinds that pull down. Pulling a blind all the way down blocks out all light and all view. Pulling a blind half-way down improves light flow and typically does an effective job of improving privacy, but what of the view? Well, in many cases you are left with the worst view, the looking down view of dirty sidewalks, rubbish bins, or what-have-you.

Some of our window film customers have decided to take the 'Looking Up' approach to privacy, by applying decorative window films from the bottom half-up. Think about it, you still get the sunshine, trees and birds but not the sometimes unpleasant street-level views. We have applied this concept in both Toronto area homes and businesses with great success. You can use any sort of decorative film in this application, from a simple frost to more interesting patterned or textured films.

Of course, this application won't work for everyone, like Friendly, the giant's windows didn't have any glass, so this idea just wouldn't work for him! Check back again for more ideas for window privacy from Apex Window Films

Solar Season is NOW!

It is April, and spring has sprung; so to speak... Okay, it isn't exactly a nice day today in Toronto, it is cold and rainy, but to residents of the GTA we've been told since we were kids that 'April showers bring May flowers' so spirits are on the rise...

This is the time that Toronto home and business owners should think about the warm days ahead and how as the sun's rays intensify in terms of solar heat and uv rays and how that will effect the comfort of their homes, stores and offices.

Apex Window Films has been installing solar control films in GTA homes and commercial buildings for years. Our customers know that installing solar film helps reduce interior heat and glare, reducing hot spots in windows, balancing interior temperatures throughout buildings, and reducing air conditioning loads.

The benefits of solar film can be felt throughout the year in terms of comfort and reduced glare to make watching television or using the computer easier. In the winter and early spring things the lack of foliage on trees can mean more direct sunlight in windows that might be shaded in the summer.

Solar control window films also block ultraviolet rays, or UV. This protects people from the damaging (and cumulative) effect UV rays have on the skin as well as protecting interiors from fading.

The energy saving benefits of solar control films are never more appreciated than in those 'dog days' of summer when intense temperatures cause unprotected buildings to have to run air conditioning units on overtime.

Why install window film now? We can tell you from experience, people start thinking about protection when things heat up... we field so many calls for solar film when Toronto temperatures rise it makes it difficult to keep up. Install solar film now before the summer heat makes your rooms uncomfortable and beat the rush. You'll notice the benefits right away and save money on air conditioning costs throughout the late spring and summer.

New Look Helps Toronto Window Film Customers Find What They are Looking For

Apex Window Films recently changed the look and feel of the website to improve user experience. The site was getting so large, we wanted to make it easier (and faster) to get to the product you are looking for specifically.

While Apex Window Films installs window film and window and door security products throughout the Greater Toronto Area, we also sell window film across North America. Apex sells window film both wholesale and retail throughout Canada and the U.S.

Because our do-it-yourself line of window film has become so extensive, as well as our online support for our DIY customers, some wholesale, commercial, and residential installation customers in the Toronto area were becoming a little overwhelmed when they visited the site.

The solution has been to increase the speed of the site as well as using graphic navigation to help our customers quickly and easily click their way to their desired product area.

Visit ApexFilms.ca and let us know what you think! You can post your comments here in our blog so that we can better improve user experience on our site.
