Solar Safety Film: Window Film Improves Safety and Energy Efficiency

The recent installation of Solar Gard® Panorama® safety film on the Roosevelt Operations Center in Eugene, OR, again proves that window film can achieve both safety and sustainability goals.

After constructing a new facility with numerous glass doors to increase daylighting, the Eugene Water and Electric Board realized the need to protect employees from the risk of flying shards in the case of severe weather, earthquakes or a violent incident. Exclusive Window Tinting installed Panorama Slate 40 safety film on 29 glass doors lining the Center and - due to the solar control it offers - energy cost savings of 42% are being forecasted (as well as more credits than needed to achieve LEED Gold Certification).

"Solar Gard's Panorama safety film brought a needed measure of safety and security to the facility while also maintaining our goals for daylighting and energy efficiency. We were striving for LEED Gold Certification, so it was critical to maintain these objectives."
- Kevin McCarthy, Eugene Water and Electric Board
